Welcome Tree2Sea Tribe,

Since there is a lot more functionality in this new format, here is a simple overview of how the new site is meant to work to help with the transition...

Upon registering, each user creates their own profile. This profile is your customizable T2S identity and comes with an info page about yourself, an avatar, and a place to link to your previous T2S forum projects etc.

We assume you come to T2S to LEARN, INTERACT, and SHARE your building projects.

LEARN: Users can join Groups. Groups are where the majority of learning happens. Consider a group like a virtual workshop that comes with a shop mentor. We’ll call these mentors Sages for now. Sages are highly experienced builders who have either developed their own method, make a living selling boards, or have some specific HWS expertise. Each Sage hosts their own “Featured" Group where they post a selection of pages called their “Instruction Manual.” If you want to build a board using a specific method, join that group. Q&A happens on "Featured" Group Discussion Boards within each group and users can post file, photos, pertaining to that method. Sages may also maintain an online commerce page to offer up their good and services.

INTERACT: Users can interact publicly with other users throughout the T2S network using the “UnFeatured” Discussion Tool. These discussions may pertain to any and all other subjects (such as general woodworking, fins, vents, design, whatever,). They are public so please be civil. Please remember the only T2S rule “Be cool and share the stoke”! Users can interact privately via email-style messaging or broadcast their comments to the entire community using a Twitter-style tool called The Wire. Please use this feature wisely.

SHARE: Each User can also share their building experiences, and show off their work, or document a surf expedition using a personalized Blog. So your Blog replaces your old-forum Projects threads. You can use bookmarks to share links of interest on this site, or any other (including links back to your projects on the old t2s forum).

Final TIP: Once you are and running, I suggest using the DASHBOARD feature as your first stop in the future. The dashboard lists all of the most recent activity on the site and you can apply filters (on the tabs) to limit the types of activity that show up.
